To re-design the existing station car park to allow for the creation of a new multi storey car park and a residential development, served by a new access
junction onto Queen Street. The design also included public realm improvements, access to a new bus stop and additional footway/cycle access.
TPI's role was to provide various feasibility options to assist the client in deciding how the site could be redeveloped. From a highways perspective,
the key aims were to ensure sufficient station parking supply remained post-development, whilst also maximising developable land. The design also sought to
ensure that pedestrians and cyclists were adequately catered for. The design work was produced to Department for Transport design standards in accordance
with Design Manual for Roads and Bridges. Vehicle swept path analysis assisted the design process.
New Junction Access Design
TPI produced preliminary designs based on a topographical survey of the site, which allowed multiple feasibility options to be produced. The client took
on-board the layout options when commencing to the next stage of design.
