Case Study

The Project

The site was subject to a previous application by Lidl for a smaller foodstore, which was approved in 2014. This scheme extends the sales floorspace to 1,687 square metres and relocates the access north along Central Avenue to accommodate the store in the south-eastern corner of the site.

As part of the scheme it was agreed to provide two active electric vehicle (EV) rapid charging points, alongside Lidl servicing vehicles manoeuvring within the customer car park. The agreed mitigation package includes relocating a public car park access and a zebra crossing in Central Avenue.

The Scheme

The scheme proposed a Lidl foodstore of 1,687 square metre sales area in an edge of town centre location. The development includes 142 car parking spaces, with a new access into the site from Central Avenue.

Our Role

TPI was instructed to prepare a Transport Assessment, Travel Plan, Servicing Management Plan and Car Park Management Plan. The Transport Assessment involved running the Hayes town centre VISSIM model to include the development, alongside local capacity testing using the Junctions 8 modelling software to provide an indication of the local impacts of the foodstore.
